Achiever, Medalist and Elite models used a leg tension knob to control the leg tension. If you turn the knob when not skiing on the unit you will strip out the gears inside the knob. If you have stripped out the gears you will not be able to adjust your leg tension. If you have stripped out your gears, add this knob and cable assembly to your cart.
If your leg tension increases on its own without turning the dial, then you would need to check to see if your Achiever, Medalist or Elite model was produced in 1990, 1991 or up to June of 1992. If it was, then you have a black teflon coating on the groove area of your flywheel which causes the leg tension to increase on its own. You will need to replace the dragstrap and the flywheel with a machined flywheel that is listed on the site. Knob and cable are nonrefundable so please make sure your knob and cable are actually stripped out before ordering.
